Season 4, Episode 2 (November 19, 2011):

Halloween has come and gone, but today, on Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, we'll look at whether or not there's more to the holiday than just decorations, candy and constumes. We'll look back at our childhood fears and explore why the idea of disguising ourselves or even transforming into someone different resonates past October 31st.

Season 4, Episode 1 (October 28, 2011):

It's been nearly two months since 9th graders began classes at Lawrence High School for the first time. Nearly everybody--from Superintendent Doll to Principal Brungardt to teachers and students--believed there would be a period of adjustment before things settled into normalcy. Today, on Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, a progress report. We'll look how things have gone so far, what's gone well and what challenges still remain.

Season 3, Episode 6 (March 8, 2010):

The Lawrence school district faces a budget deficit of over 5 million dollars. Today, on Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, we'll examine the different options facing the school board in regards to potential cuts, particularly the suggestion of closing one or more of the community's elementary schools.

With Thanksgiving nearly upon us, this week on Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, we hear the stories of some of the adults at Lawrence High we're thankful for, ones who rarely get any public recognition--the secretaries, janitors, security guards and the lunch ladies.

Season 3, Episode 4 (November 10, 2009):

Judy Blume’s “Are You There God, It's Me Margaret?” was published nearly 40 years ago, and yet the questions raised by that sixth-grader — does God exist? Does my relationship with God exist? — are still as relevant to students today. Today, on Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, we'll look at the role — or lack of role — of God and religion in students’ lives.

Lawrence School Board members are poised to talk about how adding ninth-graders to the high schools would affect space at Lawrence High School and Free State High School. OMG. LOL. GTG. 10 years ago, only about 2 percent of US residents used texting. Now, nearly 18.5 billions texts are sent a month — primarily by teens. Today, Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, looks at the pervasiveness of texting and its impact on teens and teen life.

Today on Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, we'll talk with Dr. Nilhas, who's resigning after six years of being principal at LHS. Plus, we continue our discussion about the issues of trust that are raised by the district's new Skyward software. Finally, we'll hear a review of the new album by indie favorites, Animal Collective.

A new ad campaign from JC Penney calls upon the 1985 teen movie "The Breakfast Club," but drops its message of moving beyond stereotypes. On our first episode of the new school year, Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, looks at high school stereotypes, what it means to fit in and what it means to stand out.

2007-2008

Podcast #1 (October 2, 2007):

Lawrence High School students are bringing their creativity to your ears starting today with “Room 125: The LHS Podcast.” This new podcast will run every other Tuesday during the 2007 fall semester, alternating with a new FSHS podcast, and, among other things, will include book reviews, a music review and a student poem. Today’s edition includes an interview with Charles Goolsby, director of the play “The Jellybean Conspiracy."

Podcast #2 (October 16, 2007):

In the wake of the "Jena 6" controversy, the student-produced podcast takes a look at race relations at Lawrence High School. Plus: An examination of teens and drinking, a proposal for a four-day school week, and the latest reviews.

Podcast #3 (October 30, 2007):

The main theme of this week's podcast is "Masks and Identity" — an examination of how Halloween is, for some, a time to cover up and for others, a time to reveal. The centerpieces of the podcast are two student essays: one by a student who realizes being a cheerleader was her way of hiding; and one by a gay student who realizes he can no longer hide. Throughout are student reflections about what Halloween masks mean to them.

Podcast #4 (November 13, 2007):

This week features stories about the number of clubs at LHS and whether they do more to encourage student separation than student unity; a story about the first ever LHS music department gala, featuring performances by the band, choir, and orchestra; a student poem, and a review of the Foo Fighters' new album.

Podcast #5 (November 27, 2007):

On this episode of room 125, the students examine the LHS daycare center as well as security and surveillance at LHS. Plus, a story about LHS drama department's upcoming performance of the Frank Capra classic, "It's a Wonderful Life," and a review of Sound Tribe Sector 9's album "Artifact."

Podcast #8 (February 5, 2008):

Today, on Room 125, students examine the presidential election and its impact on youth--and more importantly, youth's impact on the election. We hear an interview with KU Political Science Professor Dr. Paul Schumaker and comments from LHS' Young Democrats and Young Republicans. Plus, a brief primer on registering to vote and a look at the role of protest music.

Podcast #9 (February 19, 2008):

Valentine's Day was last week, but love is still in the air at Lawrence High School. Or is it? This week on Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, we'll look at all the different relationship stages from the perspective of students--from happily single to happily in love to not so happily broken hearted. Plus, we'll take a look at pop culture's influence on young love.

For many, the war in Iraq is something abstract, out of sight and for the most part, out of mind. But for a few students and faculty members at Lawrence High, the war is personal. Podcast #13 (May 16, 2008):

Over the past few weeks, the Lawrence School board has made plans to improve and upgrade the athletic facilities at both Lawrence High School and Free State School, in a way to make them more equal. While these changes are much needed and appreciated, today on Room 125, the Lawrence High School student podcast, we'll look at the larger issue of inequity between Lawrence High and Free State, particularly in relation to funding and socioeconomic difference of the student populatiosn and why this issue remains greatly unacknowledged.
